Caratteristiche

Località

Located at the entrance of the marina of Torredembarra, one must follow the outer road that leads to the dock. About 300 metres away, a broad esplanade fossilises an old cove where the cavity is found, at the base of the cliff.

Descrizione

Morfologia

A gallery about 12 metres long by 2 wide, followed by a laminator. The dimensions of the mouth have remained somewhat reduced due to works derived from the construction of the port. Inside, dissolution forms can be observed, and in the upper part of the gallery a reddish-matrix infill with angular blocks. These and other observations seem to confirm the interrelations between residual karstification forms modified and/or reworked by marine abrasion.

Progressione

A few metres from the mouth, behind a large block, an artificial gallery opens that ended in an ascending shaft, currently filled with rubble.

Storia

Known forever by the local people. Visited by SIRE – UEC Sants in 1980. The stretch between Cap Gros and Punta del Frarot, where the port ends, was known as Sota el Cap Gros, and the cavity could only be accessed by sea. Or through the artificial gallery next to the cave, which does not seem to make any sense. Was someone keeping a boat there? Or was it used by smugglers?
