Caratteristiche

Località

To the NW of Viladecavalls is the Turó del Ros (Serra de Collcardús) and the cave is located below the hill on its SW slope, almost touching the ridge.

Along the C-58 road (Terrassa to Monistrol de Montserrat), past km 28, is the Collcardús Waste Treatment Centre; just behind this facility a road starts that will take us to a car park, from here the dirt track starts that climbs (on foot) to the Turó del Ros. We will always take the left-hand turnings, continuing along the steep climb, until we reach the repeater station that is the highest point of the hill; here we will continue along a path that takes us to the left of the ridge, descending a little until we find the mouth of the pit.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Through a small mouth, like a window in the wall, one descends a 2 metre drop and immediately another also of 2 metres. At its base a short gallery begins that ends in a low passage that soon becomes obstructed by blocks. The maximum depth of the cavity at that time (1973) was 4.5 metres.

Later clearance work among the blocks has made it possible to descend to a depth of 8 metres.

The clastic morphology is dominant throughout the cavity.

Storia

During an excursion around Christmas of the year 1972, Jaume Morera (EPD), a member of the Olesa de Montserrat Delegation of the SIS-CE Terrassa, observed from a distance a plume of water vapour coming out of the ground; on approaching he was able to verify that the smoke was coming out of the pit. It was subsequently explored and it was not until the end of 1974 that the SIS carried out the survey. It was catalogued as Avenc Nadal'72, although some time later it was better known as Forat del Vent, which seems to be the most correct after the enquiries made by David Hernàndez among the elderly people of Viladecavalls who state that they have always known this hole through which air sometimes comes out. At the mouth, however, someone painted some time ago: “Avenc del Vent”.

Members of the GE Badalona visited it in July 2018 and confirmed that later clearance work at the bottom of the shaft has lowered the fill down to -8 metres, making a new survey.
