Caratteristiche

Località

From the hamlet of Castellar de Tost (Ribera d'Urgellet), we take the old path of coll d'Arnat, a track in not very good condition that passes beside the cemetery. Following the track further on we find a junction; in an off-road vehicle one can continue with difficulty along the track that climbs to the left, beside a dungheap (data from 2006). Before long we will find the bassa de Porcelcuit, which is used as a drinking water reservoir for Castellar de Tost.

The track continues climbing to the left of the Torrent de les Rotes and, on a large bend to the left, we find, above the track and on the right, the large mouth of l'Espluga dels Lladres.

Descrizione

Morfologia

From the rock shelter situated at the western end of the main cave, known as Espluga dels Lladres, or cova de Fontaubac, two more cavities open. No. 1 presents the morphology of an old spring. Once a 1.2 metre step is passed we climb up to a small little room. From this little room two crawls emerge, one low and more impenetrable, and the other 1 metre higher up, which connects with a chamber where the cavity ends.

Concrezioni

This chamber has a varied lithogenic covering: stalactites, stalagmites and columns.

Idrologia

The bassa de Porcelcuit is supplied by an underground spring (piped); unfortunately, those who explored l'Espluga dels Lladres could not locate it.

Progressione

Once a 1.2 metre step is passed we climb up to a small little room. From this little room two crawls emerge, one low and more impenetrable, and the other 1 metre higher up, which connects with a chamber where the cavity ends.
