Descrizione

Morfologia

A group of spring caves measuring, from E to W, 17, 4, 9 and 5 metres in length respectively; all oriented N45E. The easternmost one has a large entrance, 7 x 5 metres, and a rocky platform to the E that allows easy access to the bottom, where the ceiling lowers and the cave is filled by a large quantity of pebbles and blocks rounded by the action of the sea. The next is a short conduit, 4 metres long, with rounded forms. The height is 2.6 metres, largely occupied by water. The last two, morphologically younger, are widened joints enlarged by dissolution.

Progressione

From the existing car park at kilometre point 165.75 on the Costes road (C-31), you must descend towards the sea and head west. The caves are visible from the cliff, but access is complex and the final metres of the approach must be done by swimming.

Storia

Observed from the sea in December 2015 and visited by members of the ERE – CEC on 3 February 2016. They have certainly been known since remote times by the fishermen of the area, although we do not know whether they have a specific name.
