Caratteristiche

Località

At km. 58.900 of the C-1412b /C.74 (Isona to Tremp) take a right-hand turn-off signposted 'Central FECSA – Nerets'. A few metres after entering and before crossing the Gavet canal, turn left to follow the track leading to les Ínsules, cross two bridges and leave the track we were following towards les Ínsules on the left and continue to the right to the end, where we will find a modern construction surrounded by fields. These must be followed in a NE direction to the end of the field, where a path leads us to a stream that must be followed on the left until passing some blocks, the start of the platform where the group of fissures of els Nerets is found.

At the upper part of the platform, very visible and not far from the retaining wall that was built to divert the reservoir's outflow and direct the waters towards the lower ravine.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The cave is the penetrable underground part of the fissure that is hinted at outside, formed by an 80-metre-long gallery that, at the crossing point of two fissures, has suffered a collapse, the gallery continuing at its bottom on both sides. The entrance shaft ranges between 2 and 5 metres in width and has a depth of 10 metres, although it is almost occupied by large fallen blocks. On the E side we find the entrance portal of a gallery without important branches, which maintains an average width of 2 metres, connected with the outside at its central part by an impenetrable opening. At 34 metres from the entrance the gallery loses its horizontality, remaining closed after 20 metres in a room very close to the surface and located below the drainage platform, this point being one of those where the fissure is plugged with cement, to avoid lateral losses of the water current.

At the foot of the aforementioned step, the mouth of a 7-metre pit opens, interconnected with some intermediate galleries of reduced section. The lower part of this pit meets the middle zone of a lower gallery with a gentle slope towards the W and which ends up becoming impenetrable in both directions.

Again below the entrance shaft and continuing towards the W among the chaos of blocks, one can access a conduit, of much more reduced section and which can be followed for about 20 metres.

The cavities have been formed on a system of detachment fissures, parallel to the crag.

Concrezioni

Noteworthy is a thin sheet of calcite that appears to divide the gallery into two superimposed levels in the final stretch.

Storia

During the month of October 1968, members of the SIE – CEA explore a whole series of fissures located near the gate of the Talarn reservoir, naming them Cova-avenc de la Comporta no. 1, 2 and 3. These explorations only appear in a list of activities of the SIE from the year 1968 (EspeleoSie no. 6) and nothing more was ever heard of them.

Around 1979, members of the GES – CMB, during the research work for the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya, rediscover the cavities, survey them and decide to name them with the place name of the area, els Nerets.
