Caratteristiche

Località

You have to go to the village of Gurp (Tremp), cross the village and, before reaching the Raval, you will find a large parking area. From there we will head back towards the cluster of houses; just as we arrive, on the right, a wide uphill path takes us to the water tanks. Behind these begins the path with yellow paint marks that climbs the cliff in zigzags for some 75 metres of height; in about 10 minutes we will be on a level where the path passes in front of the various corrals. We have classified the corrals from west to east; therefore, this is the fifth in an easterly direction, it is above the rocky outcrop of the village of Gurp and it is the first one we come across after passing below the mouth of the cova de Genera.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Rock shelter 9 metres long and 20 metres wide, made up of two chambers separated by a low passage. Only the eastern part is walled; at the easternmost point, some stones placed on purpose prevent communication with the lower mouth of the cova de Genera.

Storia

Known since time immemorial. Initially, before the construction of the village of Gurp, they were very probably used as dwellings; later they came to be used as corrals. In the 1860 census they already appear cited as corrals. Some of the names of the corrals are known: cova d'en Peixeco, cova d'en Genera or Geneva, cova d'en Muntaner, cova de la Roca, cova d'en Sisco Macià, but we have not been able to identify which corral each of the names corresponds to.
