Caratteristiche

Località

Located in the village centre of les Gunyoles (Avinyonet del Penedès). We will position ourselves on carrer Esplugues, from where the camí del pessebre starts; in less than a hundred metres it passes by the cave mouth and continues a little further on until it links up with the camí de l'Arboçar, which passes above the cave.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The mouth, facing NE, presents a single gallery, slightly ascending and about 9 metres long. At the entrance, a little wider, a small chamber is formed with a smoke-blackened ceiling.

Right beside the cave there is a small hollow, Abric de les Gunyoles, with its mouth facing E and forming a tiny chamber, also with a smoke-blackened ceiling, and measuring just over 2 metres deep.

Storia

Undoubtedly known since ancient times and used as a shelter. The only data we know are those given by members of SIRE – UEC Sants who visited them in March 1982.

Since 1976 and at Christmas, the Pessebre Vivent Parlat is performed at les Gunyoles, a spectacle in which the people of the village take part and which uses the cave and its surroundings for the staging.
