Caratteristiche

Località

We will leave Sant Jaume dels Domenys along the TV‐2122 road towards the Cornudella neighbourhood first and then Lleger. From this last neighbourhood, we will head towards Mas de Vallfort, which is located at the confluence of the Torrent de Vallfort and the Riera de Marmellar.

The cave is located on the left hydrographic bank of the Riera de Marmellar, about 700 metres upstream from the junction of the two streams, in a characteristic limestone rock outcrop.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Cave with an entrance of appreciable dimensions structured as a single and straight gallery. The morphology of the passage is interesting, where we can observe the peculiar shapes of the ceiling, and also the variety and succession of the stratification layers on the walls.

Idrologia

Its location beside the stream and its orientation favoured the entry of water and it preserves the sandy floor as well as some large blocks fallen from the ceiling.

Storia

Known since time immemorial. Cited by J. Virella (1978) in a collection of cavities of the Penedès. Visited on 7 May 2016 by members of the CE de Castellar del Vallès and the GE Badalona while carrying out cataloguing work.
