Località

Going up the road that leads to the sanctuary of the Mare de Deu del Mont, 500 metres before reaching Sant Llorenç de Sous, we find the Cingle de Roca Pastora; on the right we find the spring of the same name. We go up on its left, climbing over the fallen blocks of the cingle, and in a few minutes we reach the foot of the wall, where the cova Petita de Roca Pastora is found and, about 20 metres higher up, vertically, we find the cova Gran.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The cavity is structured along a joint; the large entrance opens in the wall of the cingle, at about 20 metres of height. It has 15 metres of ascending passage until it becomes impassable. The vertical drop is +8 metres.

Progressione

Explored by the GEB in 1983, who made a climb to access it.

Storia

Through the book by Modest Prats and Joan Carreres («Verdaguer a la Mare de Deu del Mont», Edicions del Pèl, Salt 1984) a text by J. Verdaguer is known which, although it does not mention the caves, refers to the great landslide that occurred in the year 1882 and where it says that large cracks are seen there. It should be noted that Verdaguer was not at the sanctuary until two years later, in 1884. Therefore, he writes it based on the imaginative comments of the villagers, since neither is his mention of an earthquake that occurred in Múrcia correct.
