Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance, facing NE, leads through a 1.50-metre-wide fissure into a gallery from which some branches head N, which after 20 metres turns to head S, and a little further on to the SW, gradually widening and gaining height until the ceiling of the main chamber reaches a height of about 20 metres, continuing from this point with short ramifications and turning 45º towards the W.

Storia

Known since time immemorial, Font i Sagué already mentions it in 1897 in the Catalech Espeleologich de Catalunya, but without providing information about the cave. It is likewise cited later by Faura i Sans and by J. Ferraté, but without providing any new information.

The cavity was finally explored and surveyed in the early 70s of the last century by the GIEM de Montblanc.

Legend has it that the bandit from Valls Joan Serra, nicknamed La Pera, hid in this cave. The song el bandoler by Lluís Llach is inspired by this figure. La Pera was killed and quartered in Valls in 1815, at the crossroads of the streets de la Carnisseria, dels Jueus and de Sant Antoni i Sant Simó, accused of crimes committed in various villages and paths of the Camp de Tarragona.
