Descrizione
Morfologia
Two rounded entrances open in the rock floor give access to a pit about 4.5 metres deep. The base forms a small chamber.
Progressione
From the church of Rodonyà, we will follow in a S direction along the carrer de l'església; at 400 metres we will pass the small hamlet of les Casetes; at 625 metres we will turn right following the main track until reaching a wide esplanade where we can leave the vehicle, having covered 2.15 km from the village; the track is suitable for all types of vehicle. From the NW side of the car park a track sets off where at 25 metres we will turn right, finding a padlock to prevent the passage of vehicles; the path passes between old cultivated fields; at 365 metres we will turn left in a SW direction and 80 metres further on we will find the cavity.
Altri dettagli
In this small chamber an archaeological study has been carried out, and work has been done to clear the rubble from the cavity in order to recover the original space and prevent possible collapses.
Storia
Cavity known since ancient times. Norbert Font i Sagué already mentions it in 1897 based on the questionnaire carried out by the CEC among its regional delegates; it is also mentioned by M. Faura i Sans and by J. Ferrater, but these also do not provide reliable data; it also appears mentioned in the Catàleg espeleològic de Catalunya (1979).
The estate where the cave is located, privately owned, has been municipally owned since 2020 thanks to an agreement for the transfer of the space between the owner, Josep Gestí, and the Ajuntament. The council's plan in the future is to create a tourist-cultural route that includes this cavity among other elements.
