Località

Going along the track from Begues to la Plana Novella, shortly before reaching les Penyes del Carxol we will find the corral d'en Romegosa, where we will leave the car. From here a path allows us to descend to the bed of the riera del Carxol, where we will find a track that we will follow in a N direction. Soon we will find a turn-off to the right that continues in an E direction along the fondo del Teix. We will pass beside a pool (barraca de la Guàrdia) and 600 metres further on we will reach the confluence of the riera de la Morella, which we will follow for about twenty metres, where we will find the cave on our left, some 5 metres above the bed and a few metres from the avenc del Pic (pit of the Pic).

Descrizione

Morfologia

Entering through the small lower mouth we find a tiny chamber 2 metres wide and 1.5 metres high. At its end we can climb 1 metre up to come out outside.

Concrezioni

The tiny chamber is partially occupied by a thick stalactite.

Storia

It is probably the same cavity that Amat i Carreras mentions as the Cova de la Vall del Teix in his 1923 campaign, saying only that it is of little importance. In the first editions of the 'Garraf' map by Editorial Alpina (1950's), N. Llopis mentions a Cova-avenc de la Vall del Teix, giving it a depth of 5 metres.

J. Borràs, in the first volume of his Garraf catalogue (1973), in the entry for the Avenc del Pic, says that it may possibly be the Cova-avenc de la Vall del Teix. We now know that they are two different cavities.

It is not, however, until June 2015 that it is located by members of the Espeleo Club de Gràcia while carrying out the corresponding cataloguing work.
