Descrizione
Morfologia
Once the interior of the cave has been accessed through its entrance, its interior becomes more spacious. Just after passing the access and keeping the same direction it marks, a first chamber with a rectilinear and elongated floor plan is formed. Its approximate measurements are 10 m long and 2 m wide. Its section is triangular and it has internal heights of approximately 1.5 m.
At the inner end of the outer chamber, a wide gallery divided by a travertine pillar gives rise to a second area. This inner chamber changes orientation, turning approximately 45º to the left relative to the axis of the preceding area. Like the latter, it continues to be elongated and narrow, with similar dimensions and a slightly lower ceiling.
Concrezioni
Travertine pillar that divides the wide gallery at the inner end of the outer chamber.
Progressione
The cavity is accessed through a small hole just over 0.4 m wide and 0.3 m high, hidden behind vegetation of brambles and scrub.
The best way to reach the site is from the forest track mentioned above and, once at the junction where the path leading to the Font dels Pous starts, descend directly down a rocky slope, with a steep gradient and covered by dense shrubby vegetation.
Altri dettagli
It is in the inner chamber that the only unequivocal signs of contemporary anthropogenic presence are found, specifically the remains of a canti. From the interior of the cave, a human left hip bone, various elements of lithic material and fragments of handmade pottery belonging to carinated vessels with an everted rim, hemispherical vessels with an inverted rim, pieces with a low carination and a flat or concave base, and large vessels with a flat base have been located. These elements correspond to a period ranging from the Chalcolithic to the Late Bronze II.
Storia
A cavity unpublished in speleological terms, it was discovered by a resident of the village in the middle of the first decade of this century. In 2008 the GAAM (Grup d'Arqueologia d'Alta Muntanya) already carried out a preliminary study, but it was not until 2017 that it carried out the first archaeological intervention. The results of the research were presented during the II Jornades de Recerca del Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu.
