Caratteristiche

Località

From l'Estartit we head to the junction of carrer de la Pujada de la Primavera with carrer Cantabria; from this point, during the summer months vehicles are not allowed to pass.

From here you must follow the road from l'Estartit to l'Escala, an asphalted stretch; on reaching the end of the climb there is a junction, we cross the road and find a flat area where people park, from which the path to Cala Pedrosa starts. After 700 metres we will find a junction; you must keep to the left and 88 metres further on we will find the entrance of the cavity on the right-hand side of the path.

Storia

The first news we have of this cavity is from a list of biospeleological activities in el Montgrí around the year 1961. They cite it as Pou del Clot de l'Avi Company and attribute 20 metres of depth to it.

They say that it formerly had larger dimensions, but that some residents of Torroella exploded old bombs from the civil war in it, demolishing it for the most part; we do not know on what date this event could have occurred.

The story of the explosion of the bombs may be true, but Joan Pallarès visited it in 1979 and already found that the pit was only 5 metres. Still some years later, in 2008, members of the SIE – CEA observe that the depth has been reduced to 2 metres.
