Caratteristiche

Località

To reach the BZ-6 cave, take the NA-7182 road that crosses the Urbasa Park from Zudaire towards Olazagutía. At kilometre 30.900 of this road begins an asphalt track (Otsoportillo track), which is followed to kilometre 4.100. You come to a junction with an easily identifiable parking area, since another pit with a protection wall can be seen; if you do not have permission, the vehicle must be left parked here. Continue along the gravel track (Etxarriko Sareetako Bidea), which leads in the direction of the hermitages of SANTA MARINA and San Adrián. You must walk 1.6 km until you find a fork to the left that must be taken (Santa Marinako Pista). You go down and up through some zig-zags until you find some bordas on the right-hand side (Majadas de Iturmendi), a few hundred metres before reaching the hermitage of SANTA MARINA. You will have covered 1.4 kilometres more to the bordas, where you can park. You walk about 990 metres in a N-NE direction, without entering the wooded area, and stay beside the escarpment that overlooks the Sakana valley, where the fallen Oineta menhir can be seen, UTM ED-50 573.349 - 4.747.400 - 1075. They are 840 mts. apart. You enter the beech wood and come out at the Baiza open ground, where the cave is located, at the limit of DEL BOSQUE with the pasture area.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The cavity is oriented north and lies at the bottom of a small doline. It has two entrances: one on a ramp 1 mts. high by 1.5 mts. wide, and the other is an accessible vertical of about 3-4 mts., with very little distance separating them. Entry is via a descending ramp covered by a layer of leaves and clay from outside; height and width increase as you advance in a southerly direction. It changes direction, turning 90º towards the west, through a very marked muddy area with animal and human footprints, where the width dimensions become even greater. The total depth reaches 6 metres and the development exceeds 40 metres.

Concrezioni

The walls and ceilings present a layer of flowstone concretions that reaches down to floor level.

Idrologia

The floor is covered by mud and water from the numerous drips in the cave.

Altri dettagli

Bone remains are found at various points in the cavity.
