A visible rock shelter at the Penya Roja, in Cervelló, with two very visible entrances and a low-roofed passage.

Località

It is located at the Penya Roja. If we position ourselves in the can Paulet residential development, at the intersection of the streets del Gironès and de l'Anoia, we will find a water tank on the left; from this point, we will follow the street in a Westerly direction for 115 metres and, once there, we will descend in a Southerly direction, as if we were heading towards the avenc de l'Escalfor. Below this and on a small, very visible crag are the entrances of the rock shelter.

Descrizione

Morfologia

It presents two entrances that are very visible from afar. Entering through the larger entrance, one soon reaches a low-roofed passage that emerges outside 2 m further on. On the small crag, other unimportant concavities can be observed and even some small alveolar forms.

Storia

Known forever, although it had never come to be catalogued.

Note from Espeleoindex: In an article by Toni Asensio and J. Gallofré (Carbonato nº 4, 1984), a small cave is described which they call Cova de la Penya Roge (sic) that must be in the same area, but both the location and the description are quite ambiguous and there is no survey. This same cave also appears cited as cova de Penya Roja in the Catàleg Espeleològic del Massís de l'Ordal (2004). We do not know whether it could be this one or another nearby one that we have not located.
