Characteristics

Location

By the B-400 road towards Saldes, past the petrol station and kilometre 15, we will find just before a bridge and on the right the turn-off leading to Gresolet. We will follow the track until reaching the Santuari de Gresolet, generally accessible to all types of vehicles. From here, if we go with a four-wheel drive we can climb up through the beech forest to the coll de la Bauma (1577m), and from there turn off onto the track on the left until we find the fence. Sometimes we will find it open and we can reach the clot de la Jaça (1790m), where we will leave the car; if we find it closed, we will park before the fence.

We start from the assumption that we have been able to leave the car shortly before the clot de la Jaça, just at the diagonal that we will trace to approach the collet that will serve us to cross the stone wall of the cingles de Gresolet. Through this gentle diagonal we gain the collet, which on crossing it leads us to a sloping meadow that we will follow for a few metres to the entrance of the pit. From the col, and for further reference, we turn right along the upper part of the meadow; the entrance of the pit is about five metres below the rocky wall that we have to the North, just in a large block in which we will see some parabolts.

Description

Morphology

Circular entrance among some large blocks; in one of them there are some parabolts. About two metres below we will find on both sides of the wall two belays to choose from for installing the main head of the 95-metre-deep shaft. At the -25 metres level we find a small ascending passage and at -29 metres there is a ledge that skirts a large part of the shaft; the rest of the shaft is almost smooth, except for a small passage located at -63 metres, which is accessible by performing a pendulum. The base of the shaft is full of blocks, a large part of them coming from the exterior.

Progression

The parabolts serve as a handrail and first installation for the rappel. About two metres below we will find on both sides of the wall two belays to choose from for installing the main head of the 95-metre-deep shaft. The small passage located at -63 metres is accessible by performing a pendulum.

History

Located by a resident of La Palma de Cervelló (Antoni Fuentes) who communicated it to some speleologist neighbours of his, whom he accompanied at the beginning of the month of July 1983. It was necessary to clear the entrance and return the following week to finish the exploration since they did not have enough material.
