Characteristics

Location

We will set out from the village of Santa Margarida de Montbui, the old town centre, along the C-17 road, heading towards Santa Maria de Miralles. When we pass the 57.8 km point, we will take a dirt track that we will follow for about 4 km, leaving several turnings aside and continuing until we reach the head of a torrent. Here we will leave the car, to continue on foot, with no path, descending along the hydrographic left down to the torrent bed; right here we will find the rock shelter and the spring surrounded by thick vegetation, which is the source of the torrent d'en Feliu. The source of the stream gives rise to a waterfall that plunges down the ravine in times of intense rain.

Description

Morphology

We find the rock shelter beneath a waterfall; it is a damp and very shady place, overrun with mosses and ferns. It is 47 m long. We find several cavities formed by the seepage of the waters of the stream; the most important is a fissure 7 m high and 6 m long with a width of 90 cm, which looks like a pit, with its upper part completely obstructed by blocks wedged into the ceiling in precarious balance. The rock shelter has a depth reaching 10 m, and its maximum height is 7 m.

Hydrology

It is the source of the torrent d'en Feliu. Another of the cavities that we find is the one that gives its name to the spring, through which flows the water that seeps from the torrent that plunges from further above.
