Characteristics

Location

Via the track that leads from Pallejà to the font de les Rovires, access is gained on the right-hand side to some abandoned cultivated fields, where the track ends. When we enter some cultivated plots, we will find the cavity beneath the power line, at the foot of a small crag. The small entrance is visible from the abandoned fields.

Approximate coordinates, not very reliable.

Description

Morphology

A circular conduit of small dimensions places us in a flat-floored gallery that, after passing a stalagmitic rock bridge, connects with a 5X3 metre chamber where the height does not exceed 2 metres. A short and comfortable gallery places us at the top of a 2 metre step; at the base we find a short gallery with a low ceiling that at 3 metres becomes impassable due to the accumulation of sediments.

Speleothems

Stalagmitic rock bridge.

History

We do not know who the first explorers were, although it seems that they have long been known to the people of the area; they had also been mentioned, confused with les Esquerdes de les Rovires due to their proximity. In fact, the first speleological data and surveys correspond to A. Asensio and P. Valdepeñas, who explored them in 1991. Excavations carried out during 1991 led to the appearance of abundant remains of Crocuta spelea (cave hyena); the remains were deposited at the Institut Paleontològic de Sabadell.
