Small cave with a 51 m passage in Boumort (Cabó), with several entrances and chimneys.

Characteristics

Location

The cavity is located in Boumort (Cabó). There are three possible accesses. From Hortoneda we will follow the track in the direction of Mas de les Feixes; on entering the Coma d'Orient we will follow the track on the left, passing by the masos de la Coma and heading towards the Prat Montaner, which we will reach after finding a water deposit located on the left of the track and shortly after passing a 180º curve to the left.

Another access can be made from Bóixols, passing through the Coll de Llivia and the refugi forestal de Boumort; the track descends until it links up at the Coma d'Orient with the track that climbs from Hortoneda, already indicated above.

The third access can be made from Organyà; on arriving at Cabó we will head towards Senyús, before arriving there we will turn off to the left and follow the track until we reach the Prat Montaner.

Once we have arrived at the Prat Montaner, we will follow a path that climbs to the right in the direction of the Pas Comptador and the Coma de Castell; the cavity is located 750 metres from the track, at a point where there are some fallen blocks on the left, beneath these blocks is the cavity.

Description

Morphology

The cave has several accessible entrances; we will enter through the largest one, located in the lower part. It is a passage that leads us to the right into a room where fallen blocks predominate. At the end a chimney of +4.50 metres leads to the outside. We also find two small pits that join in a gallery at a lower level and that give the maximum depth of -9.70 metres. At the base of the aforementioned chimney, an ascending crawl leads us to another sector of the cavity that is much more clastic; here we find another chimney of +3.70 metres that leads to the outside. Between blocks, the gallery descends until it ends at the level of -8.70 metres. In the middle of the route of this latter gallery we find a new chimney of +2.60 metres that also leads to the outside.

History

The first news we have of this cavity is from the exploration carried out jointly by the GE Badalona and the EC Gràcia on 30 July 2005. Although they found the remains of an inscription at the entrance indicating the name cova de les Mosques and the initials GEP; we do not know any data in this regard, nor, despite the coincidence of initials, that the GE Pedraforca was the exploring group.
