Description
Morphology
It is a small cave that, after 10 metres of progression (elevation -6), opens onto a sump.
Hydrology
During floods, the exsurgence de Gourneyrou discharges muddy water (2 to 3 m3/s), while its neighbour Gourneyras runs clear (G. Milhau 1969).
It is therefore a deep vauclusian system independent of its grandiose neighbour Gourneyras.
Progression
The sump was reconnoitred by Lombard on 8-10-1950 down to -12 (length 30 M). Claude Touloumdjian dived it for 270 M (-60), then P. Penez on 28 October 1981 for 345 M (-90).
Other details
Mazauric reports that the owner of the Mas del Pont is said to have gone up this rivière souterraine "quite far into the causse with the help of a raft" before an unfortunate collapse. For M. Laurès, the exploration must have been limited to the entrance lake, 6 metres long.
