Gisclareny • Berguedà 24m 1m

Small cave with 24 metres of passage in Gisclareny, discovered by the SIES on 18 October 1987.

Characteristics

Location

The cavity is located in Gisclareny. It is reached via the track that runs from Bagà past Cal Cerdanyola; shortly before reaching Cal Monnell there is a bridge that crosses the river. At this point you must go up the torrent de la Muga, dry most of the year, until you find the first sink; the cavity is a few metres back, on the hydrographic right bank. From this point you must go up the first torrent found on the hydrographic right side, climbing several vertical drops; after passing three cascades on their right side the cavity is found, hidden by the vegetation at the head of the gully. Approximate coordinates without much reliability.

Description

Morphology

The entrance is 1.5 x 0.5 metres and gives way to a low-roofed bedding plane (sump) that connects with a gallery of about 9 metres of comfortable passage. A rounded chamber to the left of the high roof intercepts the gallery, which from here continues in a descending direction for 14 metres, until it becomes impassable due to the narrowness.

Hydrology

The torrent de la Muga is dry most of the year. The first sink is found by going up the torrent; the cavity is a few metres back, on the hydrographic right bank.

Progression

From the bridge over the river you must go up the torrent de la Muga until you find the first sink. From this point you must go up the first torrent found on the hydrographic right side, climbing several vertical drops; after passing three cascades on their right side the cavity is found.

History

The cavity was discovered by the SIES on 18 October 1987 thanks to the cascade that during those days came out of the mouth, amid the thick vegetation of the area.
