Characteristics

Location

From the coll de Garró, at km 24.1 of the BV-2411 road (from Gavà to Avinyó), a track heads N and must be followed for 320 metres, leaving a fork to the right. At this point we are just above the rock shelter. We must continue a few metres along the track and descend between the vineyards to the rock shelter, which we will find easily.

Description

Morphology

It is a rock shelter 35.5 metres wide, with a maximum height of 3.5 metres and a depth of 6 metres. The W half is completely flat, while to the E the ground rises 2.5 metres until the rock shelter is closed off by some blocks.

History

Known since time immemorial. Manuel Milà i Fontanals (1880), in a work on Olèrdola, mentions a cave near a long rock beside Can Ràfols dels Caus. This citation is taken up by Font i Sagué in his Catàlech (1897). There seems to be no doubt that these references correspond to the Cova Llarga.
