Location

On the GI-530 road, about 200 m before reaching the village of Sant Aniol de Finestres, a track on the right, initially paved, crosses the Riera de Llémena; just past the bridge, the track becomes dirt and we will turn left, heading upstream parallel to the river for about 2.5 km, leaving behind the farmhouses of la Granada and la Faixa.

At this point a small path descends toward the river and in about 50 m we reach the confluence of the Riera de Llémena and the Rec de la Font de Socals. The cave is on the left hydrographic bank of the Riera de Llémena, directly opposite the plunge pool of the same name.

Description

Morphology

The cavity is excavated beside a plunge pool at the base of a small waterfall, of habitable dimensions, and the floor is earthy, made up of debris washed down by the river.

Speleothems

The back of the cave has flowstone-like concretions and micro-gours, and the ceiling has a small passage that soon becomes impenetrable.

History

Known since ancient times. Cited in: Excursions als naixements dels rius de Catalunya; pp106. Albert Vicens Llauradó. Visited by J. Navarro and M. Mañosa of the CE de Castellar del Vallès in August 2019, while carrying out cataloguing work.
