Characteristics

Location

Leaving Pont d'Armentera along the TV-2141 road towards cal Batllet, after about 4 kilometres you reach cal Figueres; we will turn left onto a track that will take us to the Castell de Selmella. We will position ourselves in the small ruined village located to the S of the Castell, and follow the track in a SW direction for about 200 metres. We will leave the path to head left towards the cliff face, taking advantage of a depression in the terrain. You have to keep going down until you find a kind of natural shortcut at the foot of the wall; once on the path, we will see a rock needle that serves as a landmark for the place where the cave is located.

Description

Morphology

The entrance is an opening of a certain size, with a very decomposed front wall. Once at the upper part, we can see the double level and the light entering through the other mouth.

Progression

Progression is made along the right-hand side through an ascending fissure. Great care is needed when climbing, because of the number of skeletons found in the middle of the passage.

History

The first reference we have of this cavity is the exploration carried out by the GET de l'AE Talaia in the year 2000.
