Location

From Tortosa and Roquetes you must take the road towards els Reguers and from there continue along the TV-3422 in the direction of Alfara de Carles, and 3 kilometres before arriving the turn-off to el Toscar appears on the left. From here you must take the path, well signposted with markers, which climbs towards the coll de Morera, crosses the barranc del Bosc Negre and, without any chance of getting lost, in a little over an hour, climbs up to the cova dels Adells with magnificent views of the Rases del Maraco.

Area with free-roaming bulls, the gates on the path must be left closed.

Description

Morphology

A large entrance porch 7 metres high and bounded by a stone wall allows entry into a wide passage about 10 metres long that loses height as one advances until it closes off with the ground.

The cavity is set on the axis of a magnificent and instructive anticline of Jurassic limestones.

Other details

It is still used today to keep livestock.

History

Known since time immemorial, although it does not appear in the old speleological catalogues. Bayerri, in his Historia de Tortosa (1934), mentions this cave within a generic group that he cites as Coves d'Alfara and only says that 400 head of livestock fit inside. He also refers to a work by Dr. Bataller on the Jurassic of el Port (1925-26) which also cites it.
