Characteristics

Location

On the west slope of Montcau, in Sant Llorenç del Munt. It is reached by starting the walk on the path that leads from the coll d'Estenalles to the cimal dels Cortins; once the bed of the canal del Séc has been crossed, one must leave the path to the left and descend until finding a charcoal burner's hut and a rockfall that is right next to it. From this rockfall one sets off in a northerly direction initially without losing height. Once inside the forest, one begins to lose height, first passing a gully at the head of which is the cova Penjada del Montcau. Then a rockfall is crossed, after which the cova Oest del Montcau is found. If one continues without losing height, a stretch of collapsed cliff is found, above which is the cova d'Estenalles. A second rockfall is crossed and almost at the limit of possible continuity, above a rise with holm oaks, the cova del Guille opens, almost directly opposite the cova d'en Paca. Very approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

With an initial entrance 4 metres high, it soon drops to 1.5 and in 2 more metres it drops to one metre high. The most curious feature of the cavity is the arc drawn by this first gallery, which passes from a joint of direction N110 to another N120 progressively over these first 10 metres, also coinciding with an increase in the quantity and size of the pebbles on the floor of the cavity. The connection with both almost parallel fractures is made through a small opening 30 cm high by 80 cm wide. This new gallery, with a maximum height of 1.4 metres and a floor full of debris, does not appear to have an exit onto the cliff. The total passage of the cave is 16.4 metres.

Speleothems

There are no signs of reconstructive elements inside the cavity.
