Characteristics

Location

Leaving Moià in the direction of Manresa along the N-141c road, at kilometre 25.5 and beside a bridge, an asphalted lane branches off to the left leading to the golf course. Before reaching it, on the right, a track leads to the house of Vilarjoan. Shortly before arriving, also on the right, a new track follows the course of the riera de l'Om. One passes beside the water tank of the font del Molí de Vilarjoan or Molí de Vent. One continues ahead along the track until it makes a gentle turn to the left, and above the track, also on the left, is the large entrance of the cave.

Description

Morphology

It is an ancient spring, today completely fossil, formed by a single gallery 17 metres long, entered through an entrance of ample dimensions, some 11 metres wide by 5 high. The floor is flat, without sediments.

Speleothems

At the final, decalcified part, there are some timid lithogenic formations.

History

Certainly known since remote times and which, judging by the name it is known by, must have some legend that for now we do not know.

The first speleological news we know of is provided by Joan Pallarès who, accompanied by the late Joan Surroca i Arisa, illustrious scholar of the Moianès, visited it on 4 March 1989.
