A 20-metre-long cave at La Baronia de Sant Oïsme (Camarasa), excavated between limestone blocks, with a floor of fluvial sand and a drop of -5 metres. Normally covered by the waters of the Camarasa reservoir.

Characteristics

Location

It is located on the hydrographic right bank of the Camarasa reservoir, in front of La Baronia de Sant Oïsme, almost directly beneath a power line that crosses the reservoir.

Located at kilometre 206.49 of the C-12 road, right at the turn-off to La Ametlla del Montsec, on the other side of the road a track heads towards the reservoir which in 330 metres brings us to an electricity transformer where the vehicle can be left. We will follow the path and soon find a signpost for the trail that goes to Oroners; we will leave it on the right and descend almost to the cliff edge following a small path that goes down in the direction of the La Pobla train line; on reaching its level the path turns and descends in the direction of the reservoir; once we have reached it we will go up along the bank to beneath the power line where the cave is located.

Normally the cave is covered by the waters of the Camarasa reservoir.

The cavity is normally covered by the water of the reservoir and is only fully accessible in times of drought, when the Camarasa reservoir is at 35% of its capacity.

Currently (December 2023) the reservoir is at 35% of its capacity and the reservoir level is 312.5 metres above sea level. The cavity is completely filled with sediments and is no longer accessible, except for the entrance.
