Vallirana • Baix Llobregat 78m 15m

Cave with a passage of 78 metres in Vallirana, beneath Puig Bernat, on the Pinatella cliff.

Characteristics

Location

It is located directly beneath Puig Bernat, in the western sector of the Pinatella cliff, and on the slope of the fondo de l'Osca. It is difficult to locate due to the lush vegetation of the area and is surrounded by brambles. Currently the most feasible access would be from carrer del Grèvol, located in the Pinatella urbanisation. Approximate coordinates without much precision.

Description

Morphology

Elongated entrance of 10X3 metres, with a low-roofed gallery that leads to a room of wider dimensions, and with the floor covered in large blocks, with a continuation of the same gallery. A low, elongated roof-level laminador ascends until it becomes impassable at +15 metres. At the start of the laminador and at its right-hand end, one must climb a small rise in order to reach an ascending gallery with a rounded section of more comfortable dimensions, until connecting with the same laminador at its highest part, in a small labyrinth of crevices.

Progression

At the start of the laminador and at its right-hand end, one must climb a small rise in order to reach an ascending gallery with a rounded section of more comfortable dimensions, until connecting with the same laminador at its highest part, in a small labyrinth of crevices.

History

The only reference we have of this cavity is that it was explored by Toni Asensio and Pedro Valdepeñas in the 90s of the last century. It seems it was known to climbers, since at the entrance there was a climbing route.
