Location

On the cliff that runs from the punta del Xeric (Cala Montgó) to the punta Trencabraços, about 125m north of the punta del Xeric, beneath a marked needle separated from the cliff, and at a depth of -9m.

Description

Morphology

Small submarine cavity opened in the cliff wall, with two entrances, and a short gallery that ends in a small chamber.

Speleothems

In the small chamber where the short gallery ends, some speleothems can be observed.

History

Located and explored by members of the underwater speleology commission of the FCE between 2007 and 2009 (Hilari Moreno, Carlos Garcia, Mireia Bolta and Josep Guarro), during the SIE campaigns at the Montgrí. Years later, in the autumn of 2023 it is visited again first by Ivan Contreras and Josep Guarro (15-10-2023), and by Eduard Rovira and Josep Guarro (12-11-2023 and 18-11-2023) who make the survey and take the location coordinates. We do not know whether it had ever been visited before by other divers, since being located between the Punta del Xeric and that of Trencabraços it is not a very frequented area.
