History

Known since time immemorial. According to Amades, a shepherd named Amadeu had a divine revelation, according to which in a cave of the Pyrenees there were, buried, an image of Mary, a pot and a bell that had belonged to Saint Giles. They say he found them in a cova de la vall (cave of the valley) of the valley of Núria. From this derives the belief, also according to Amades, that women who could not have children went up to Núria to place their head, first inside the pot and later the custom was transferred to the bell, in order to be fertile.
