Characteristics

Location

Located on the C-153 road from l'Esquirol to Cantonigròs, once past kilometre 21 and just after crossing the Pont de les Perxes, an asphalted track leaves from the left that passes through Sant Julià de Cabrera. On reaching the Collet de Sant Julià you must turn right towards the Freixeneda; once past it, the track continues as dirt and a high vehicle is advisable. The end of the track is at the Coll de Bram car park. From here you must take the path that climbs to the Mare de Déu de Cabrera, but follow it in the opposite direction, towards the S. After 400 metres, when the path begins a more pronounced descent, we will turn right where we will find, about thirty metres away, the Bores del Muler, de la Censura and del Camí. We will pass through the middle of the latter in the direction of the cliff; at this point a marked trail begins that follows the cliff in a S direction. We will follow it for about 80 metres; at this point on the right we already find a first access to a part of the cavity. Continuing along the path about 10 metres further on we reach the great fissure that forms the cavity.

Description

Morphology

It is formed by a single fissure parallel to the cliff, more than 100 metres long and with a maximum width of 5 metres between its walls, slightly overhanging above the ravine. In the N sector it presents a superposition of false galleries, due to the embedding of blocks of regular dimensions in the walls.

History

All this group of fissures known as the Bores d'en Masallera were explored between 1978 and 1981 by the Grup Espeleològic Mollet, which at the time carried out intense research and exploration work in the Cabrerès area.
