Description

Morphology

The balma Rosa has a width of 78 metres, a maximum height of 6 metres and a depth of 14 metres.

Hydrology

In front of the rock shelter there is a small plunge pool, a body of water corresponding to an accumulation of water from the Tenes, from where it forms several waterfalls in higher sections.

Progression

From Riells del Fai, take the Sant Miquel del Fai path, which follows the Tenes river on the right (looking towards Sant Miquel del Fai). Pass the houses of la Madella and continue past the ruins of the Fai power station, located on the other side of the river. Continue above an artificial water channel, using some stairs and iron installations.

We are in the Vall de Sant Miquel zone, continuing over bare rock, which is the predominant surface type in the riverbed and along its sides; some sections of path crossing the vegetation must also be followed, on the right side of the river (hydrographic left).

Arrival at the rock shelter, located on the right bank of the river (hydrographic left).

History

Known since time immemorial, although it had remained unrecorded in speleological catalogues.
