Odèn • Solsonès 5m

Small rock shelter in the Coscoller area, between Odèn and Oliana, with an opening of 7X3 metres and 5 metres deep.

Characteristics

Location

The rock shelter is located in the Coscoller area. It appears to lie on the municipal boundary between Odèn and Oliana; it has always been catalogued in Odèn, but pending review and given the known data it could be located rather in Oliana, and therefore in the comarca of Alt Urgell. The coordinates are not very precise.

To get there, we will set out from Cambrils along the road to Alinyà; at the collada de Llinars we will turn left onto the forest track that climbs to the pla de les Guàrdies in a southerly direction, and at the collada de les Guàrdies we will park the car in the most suitable place. From here we will follow on foot the forest track that climbs in a north-westerly direction, gradually leaving the ridge and descending along a steep slope that turns into a ridge as far as the collada dels Obacs. Here we will leave the path, which changes direction radically and descends towards les Anoves. We will continue south along the ridge to the roca del Mirador, a small hill with a great view over the valley of the Móra Comtal. We will head west, first level and then descending to a col where we will pass the agulla del Mugró, first climbed in April 1953 by the CADE del CEC, cross the col in the direction of the Coscoller, and below the walls we will find the balmes de Bordetes and Codina, both separated by 20 metres, and also known as the balmes del Coscoller. We will continue westwards and, without a path, among the forest and beside the walls of the Coscoller, hidden by the vegetation, we will reach the balma Fumada.
