Description
Morphology
The shelter develops between two strata of limestones with an intercalated stratum of marls. The maximum dimensions of the shelter are 80 metres wide, 15 metres deep and 4 metres high.
Speleothems
It receives various seepages from the ceiling that give rise to incipient crusts and stalactitic formations.
Hydrology
At the back, one of these water emergences is channelled along the floor of the cavity.
History
In December 1938, doctor E. Fossas of Sant Quirze invited the archaeologist S. Vilaseca to visit this shelter. They returned in 1943 together with the professors Almagro and Pericot, and carried out an excavation of which Vilaseca published a note in the journal Ampurias that same year.
In December 2015, the GE Badalona explored it and carried out the survey, but they mistakenly placed it in Santa Maria de Merlès in the comarca of Berguedà, although the coordinates they give are completely correct.
