Characteristics

Location

Taking the road from Alcover to Capafonts (TV 7041), before reaching Mont-ral and a few metres before reaching Km. 10, a track begins, asphalted at first, which crosses the Pla de les Perdius. We will always continue straight, ignoring the forks, until the track ends in a widening of it in the middle of the forest, on the ridge of the serra d'en Clarà. From this point and in a N direction a path leads us to the avenc del Cabirol, after passing the point where it branches off towards the avenc de la Carbonera, and a few metres before reaching the avenc del Cabirol, on the right, a path leads us to a clearing in the middle of the forest, it is an old charcoal kiln, on the right-hand side as we arrive, we find a cairn that indicates the path to follow, we will soon pass by the two entrances of the avenc NR-7, we will continue a little further along the faint path and we will reach the avenc NR-8.

Description

Morphology

From the entrance we access through an inclined gallery to a drop of -1.80 metres, a few metres further on we come to a pit of -13 metres, where at -10 metres we find an accumulation of blocks wedged in the diaclase. Once at the base, following the diaclase in a NE direction it reaches a point where a rise of +1.70 metres must be overcome, from here we find a chaos of blocks through which the diaclase can be descended for some metres until it becomes impenetrable.

Back at the base of the entrance pit, following in a SW direction we find wedged blocks that can be overcome both below and above them, the gallery rises a little and descends again, to finally rise strongly in a heavily concretioned stretch, up to the end of the diaclase. Halfway up and on the left we find the access to a pit, this descends a little more than a couple of metres and places us in a fissure where we find a narrow pit that descends about three metres, but which can also be followed along the fissure that descends between blocks with some very narrow passages, until reaching the end at -28.13 metres.

History

From the few available data, it seems that it was located and explored by the AAEET de Valls in 1998, during the prospections carried out in this area. We do not know the meaning of the initials NR with which they named some of the cavities of this sector.
