Characteristics

Location

From the main town centre, Sant Joan de Mediona, take carrer del Molí and follow it alongside the riera de Mediona until reaching a turn-off to the right that climbs towards the Can Verdaguer housing estate. Once here, follow the streets that climb towards the small summit of the Talaia and, shortly before arriving, take the street that branches off to the right and continues along the les Clivelleres track. On its first stretch it levels out and, on a bend to the right, a small path branches off into the woods, descending towards a torrent filled far and wide with an immense chaos of blocks. On the left a small crag takes shape, where first a small cave of no importance can be seen (uncatalogued), and further on one must approach the crag and its base, beneath some large blocks, where the mouth of the pit is found.

Description

Morphology

The opening between blocks leads down to a 6 metre shaft, at the base of which we find a wide gallery that descends on a slope to -10 metres; from this point the gallery turns slightly to the right and climbs again on a slope for some 4 metres. At the lowest point of the gallery and on the N side, we find an attempted dig that descends half a metre further.

History

During the biospeleological research carried out in the cavities of the area by members of the ERE - CEC, on 17 March 1974 they located the mouth of the cavity.

We have evidence of the existence of pit no. 4, some 10 metres deep, but so far we have not been able to locate it.
