Characteristics

Location

In the torrent below the cova del Morrut, about twenty metres from it. Although the entrance is closer to the aforementioned cave, the recommended itinerary would start from the Avenc Nou, as it is in a wooded and overgrown spot. From the Avenc Nou we would go about 50 metres in a NW direction, and we will easily find the avenc del Morrut due to its dimensions.

Description

Morphology

We find ourselves with a doline of 8×10 metres. At the lower part of this doline we find two small galleries. The left one is ascending and with about 5 metres of passage. One metre from the entrance it has a connection on the right with the other gallery. The right one has an entrance of 0.60×0.43 metres. Just after entering, on the left, is the connection we mentioned before. The gallery is descending and with the floor full of gravel, ending about three metres further on, reaching the maximum depth: -2.60 m. Two metres from the entrance we find a chimney about 2 metres high.

Hydrology

The doline acts as a swallow hole for the waters of the torrent.

Progression

The entrance of the right gallery, 0.60×0.43 metres, forces us to crawl.

History

Long related on maps by the publisher Alpina, as it was considered a residual cavity it does not appear in the catalogs of l'Ordal. On 1-03-2009 the Grup d'Espeleologia de Badalona fully explored and surveyed it. Although it is quite evident that this cavity is not a pit but a cave, the designation of pit given to it by its first explorers has been respected.
