Characteristics

Location

Small pit at coll d'Ordal (Subirats). Cavity easy to locate due to its wide entrance.

We will take the N-340 road and, starting from the village of Ordal in the direction of coll de la Creu d'Ordal and between kilometres 1227 and 1228 shortly before a bridge, a closed track leads off to a quarry. Here, beside the road, we will leave the car and continue on foot.

The pit is located on the slope of the area known as Bosc del Molí de Calç, near where there is a junction of high-voltage power lines. We will climb in the direction of the first pylon of Red Electrica Española, advancing through the deforested strip below the HV lines, and about 100 metres before reaching the tower we will already see the entrance of the pit, quite obvious since it measures 4×3 metres.

The place name bosc evokes past times, since today there are few trees, the predominant vegetation being brambles typical of limestone soil.

Description

Morphology

Entrance of 4×3 metres. The joint becomes narrower at the bottom, since it has an average width of 1.10 metres.

Progression

The entrance showed no sign of having been descended previously, so they placed a spit to be able to descend the small shaft of -4.50 metres above a luxuriant rosemary that grows within the rope's path. One reaches a descending ramp with clayey soil at first, becoming stones at the end of it 3.80 metres further on. Here the drop is -6 metres.

History

The only known data for this cavity are from the exploration carried out on 18-01-2009 by the Grup d'Espeleologia de Badalona.
