Characteristics

Location

Following the track that goes from les Arenes to the farmhouse of Can Cadafalch, a few metres before reaching the two pillars of the entrance to the farmhouse property, we will find a torrent on the right that comes down from the turó d'Aguilar. Right beside the pillars a path made by the “motos” starts and climbs until it crosses a track. We will follow this track uphill, along the left side of the torrent. The track crosses a second torrent and follows it up along its right bank. A few metres further on the track joins the torrent forming a small esplanade; the track still follows the torrent a little further up along its right side, joining the torrent again. At this point another track starts on the other side of the torrent; it is very abandoned and we will follow it for not many metres until we find the mouth of the pit on the right.

Description

Morphology

The mouth, 1 x 0.9 metres, gives access to a shaft of about 6 metres, below which we will find a narrow descending passage that leads to a room of 9 x 6 metres. In its upper part the ceiling is very low, such that in some points one cannot reach the end. Its upper part ranges between 1 and 3 metres. In its NE part a gallery with a very low ceiling starts and becomes impracticable after a few metres.

Cavity seated on a N64O – S64E joint, where the entrance shaft has been excavated, which later communicates with the room that is formed in a stratum within the same conglomerate. The upper part has subsequently been covered by sedimentation.

Speleothems

In the room we can observe some concretions and small stalagmitic flows.

History

Discovered and explored in April 1964 by members of the GES of the CMB possibly with members of its delegation in Terrassa.
