Characteristics

Location

On the BV-4243 road that climbs from Castellar del Riu to the Rasos de Peguera, at kilometre 12.9, 250 metres before reaching the Coll del Sant Crist, on the right of the road a track closed to vehicles starts and in 2.1 kilometres takes us to the Collada dels Rasets, where there is a pool of water for much of the year.

From the Collada dels Rasets we follow the track uphill towards the S, in the direction of the Torreta dels Enginyers (antenna installation); once we reach this point we continue S towards the crag; before reaching it, on the W side a small valley opens up which we follow; at the end of it we find the Pas de l'Os, a hole formed by a large block; we must pass through the gap and go down the steep slope; once at the bottom we follow the large fissure towards the W; when it turns S we will find the cavity below us among the blocks.

Description

Morphology

We are before a cavity formed by block collapse. We have three entrances; it is recommended to use the one marked as no. 1.

Progression

Descending a 2.30-metre drop we reach a ramp that leaves us at the base of a roofless chamber, to continue towards the other widening.

History

The GE Badalona explored and surveyed this cavity on 25 November 2007, mistakenly naming it Cova de la Canal; they themselves also call it Cova R.10 de Rasets.

Toponymically, locally it is known as Avenc de la Nevera de Puigventós; it is said that the snow remains there all year round; currently, with climate change, we have been able to observe that in the month of June (2021) there is no snow left.
