A 22 m deep pit near the Serra d'Almos (Tivissa), explored on 18 January 1975 by the GE Pedraforca.

Characteristics

Location

From the village of the Serra d'Almos, leave via the Mas de l'Arany and follow the track that goes up the barranc de Tartacó (in the original record: Barranc de la Llamborda) and continues along the barranc de Mossefra; further on, the ruins of the mas de Castinyol are left on the left and a little further on, on the right, the ruins of the mas de l'Eloi, where the vehicle is left.

In front of the Mas, on the other side of the path (North) and slightly higher, there is a field enclosed by an electric fence; one must enter it and follow the electric fence on the right-hand side until reaching the other side of the field, pass under the fence and follow a path that is soon lost, following a half-lost trail that on the right descends to the barranc; the mouth of the cavity is on the hydrographic left of the barranc, a little more than one metre in height from the bed of the barranc.

The cavity is 225 metres from the mas de l'Eloi.

Description

Morphology

The mouth, slightly inclined E-W, gives way to a passage of reduced dimensions. From here (level -4) the cavity gains considerably in longitudinal development, but not in transverse development, a small side chamber hanging being observed at this point.

Progression

One descends to 16 metres of depth, where a ledge is found; -19 is reached and through a narrow passage between blocks the deepest point is attained (level -21.8).

History

The first exploration took place on 18 January 1975 by members of the GE Pedraforca (Barcelona) thanks to Mr. Ramon Pena, a resident of the Serra d'Almos who accompanied them (in the original record, the first exploration is erroneously attributed to the ERE-CEC).
