Location

At the start of the head of the torrent (hydrographic right bank) that descends from the col between the summits of the Rascler and the Bena, towards the fondo del Bruc, 25 m to the NE of a ruined dry-stone cabin.

Description

Morphology

The pit opens to the outside through a small entrance, about 1 m x 0.8 m in diameter. At -5 m depth the dimensions increase somewhat, and there is a ledge, with an embedded block, the point where the second shaft opens, which takes us to the maximum depth of the cavity, -12 m.

History

Located by Josep Guarro on 10 November 2019, without finding any mark or sign at the entrance. The following Sunday, 17 November 2019, he returns with Joan Carles Juderias and Jordi Perera, and they explore and survey the pit, finding a rather rusty escarpa at its bottom, a sign that someone had already descended years ago without leaving any record. Having no data on its first explorers, they decide to name it Avenc de la Cabana de la Bena.
