Characteristics

Location

About 20 metres above the right slope of the westernmost stream that descends from the Campgràs, forming the head of the Fondo de Vallbona.

The shortest route that was known was from the Avenc Emili Sabaté; from there one must follow a faint path keeping the same height, cross the torrent and head for a small ridge that separates the Fondo de les Guineus and the next torrent. About 20 metres above the bed of this torrent (right slope) and a few below the aforementioned ridge is the pit. If we followed this torrent downstream we would reach the Avenc Ramon Valls. Currently (2012), the ICC map places it erroneously, two torrents further on.

According to Lluís Muntan, the vegetation currently does not allow this route to be followed. He himself proposes the following route: after passing the turn-off to the avenc Emili Sabaté, one must take the path that leaves from the bend in the road, at the top, the same one used to go to the Ramon Valls, and when one reaches the ridge, follow it to a point where it can be seen that they have tried to clear it. From here go down the slope, about twenty metres, to the entrance.

Description

Morphology

A small entrance that leads to a 7 metre deep shaft, joined on the S side with another vertical passage that also communicates with the outside through an impenetrable hole. The plan of this entrance shaft is formed by a descending ramp that after a few metres communicates with a new vertical drop, this one of 7.5 metres of height difference, with the bottom occupied by clastic materials and which, with a certain inclination towards the S, leads in a few metres to a final chamber where the maximum depth is reached.

Speleothems

The reconstruction process is well represented by a series of wall flowstone throughout the whole cavity.

History

Discovered and explored around the year 1960 by members of the SES Puigmal (Barcelona), among whom we believe we remember was Emili Sabaté himself.
