Characteristics

Location

At km. 14 of the road from Sant Pere de Ribes to Olivella (BV-2111) is the farmhouse of Can Suriol. The pit is to the SW of this point, from where one must climb about 50 metres in height from the riera de Begues in the direction of the summit of Montnàs, until finding a rock about 2 metres high, in the middle of the forest, on top of which the cavity is located. Description

Morphology

The entrance is inside a small doline surrounded by vegetation, it is elongated in shape (1 x 0.60 m.) and gives rise to a drop of almost 1 metre of height difference, which places us on top of a chaos of blocks in an unstable position and which must be overcome in the following metres of descent until reaching the shaft that reaches 13 metres of depth. A ramp of blocks leads to the point of maximum depth. Halfway down the shaft, from a ledge, one can still access a short gallery and an ascending section. Cavity evolved by the dissolution of some fissures of the rascler.

History

It seems that the first exploration was carried out by members of the AE Talaia de Vilanova i la Geltrú towards the end of the 1950s or early 1960s.
