Description
Morphology
A muddy entrance 1.5 metres in diameter allows us to access a shaft with a 60º inclination, developed along an important joint. The first 10 metres are very muddy and lead us to a step from where we continue through a narrow passage continuing the ramp about 10 metres more to a 3 metre drop, where we reach an important ledge at elevation – 21. After a fractioning, a 4 metre vertical is descended to continue again on a ramp for 8 metres more, where a fractioning is overcome to fall vertically 7 metres to the final floor of the cavity, sloping towards the N, where it reaches 42.6 metres of maximum depth. Above this point rises a 15 metre chimney.
Speleothems
On a ledge in a corner the only point of the cavity with a little concretion can be observed.
Progression
On 29 November 1983, after several days of heavy rain, the plug of sediments that hid the current avenc de Can Garrigosa collapsed. The day before, the farmhands of the house had passed by that spot. On Sunday 4 December, Jaume Claverí and Joan Boixader (GES – CM Terrassa) carried out the first exploration carrying only a 20 metre electron ladder. The end of the ladder hung on an aerial 5 metre drop, where a continuation was observed where the stones thrown resonated. Two days later, in a nocturnal exploration, four members of the GES – CMT explored the pit in its entirety, making a small sketch. After this exploration, there are reports of three more visits, among which there is one carried out by the Espeleo Club Sabadell, who made a survey. On 6 October 1984, members of the SIS – CET visited the cavity and made the only survey that we know of.
