Characteristics

Location

From the W of Albinyana, an asphalted track sets out and, in a little over a kilometre, climbs up to the castle of l'Esquernosa and the chapel of Sant Antoni de Pàdua. Before starting the climb towards the chapel, we find a turn-off to the left heading towards the Perucho farmhouse; once past it, we follow the GR-92 waymarks as far as the ruined Escansa farmhouse. From here we follow the track for 350 metres, until we find a turn-off to the left where the vehicle can be left; we follow this left-hand path for 140 metres, where there is a turn-off to the left that would take us to the cova de Vallmajor; we must keep to the right for a further 225 metres. At this point, on the right of the path, we find a stone cairn indicating a faint trail; following it for 50 metres will bring us to the mouth of the cavity, painted with the name avenc d'en Baldiri.

Description

Morphology

An oval mouth gives access to a joint of direction S40W. The cavity develops along a narrow vertical conduit, opened between two blocks, which leads us towards deeper levels. Once we have descended the blocks we reach a clastic ramp of larger dimensions. The lowest point is reached at -17 metres. Situated again in the area of the two blocks, the gallery continues in direction N40E; this descends until reaching -14 metres.

Speleothems

On the clastic ramp of larger dimensions we find an important lithogenic process.

History

Known since ancient times by the local people, in October 1967 it was explored by members of the SES of the Club Esquí Puigmal.
