Discovered and first probed by Pere Giró (Museu de Vilafranca) in 1936. In 1942 it was excavated by Antoni Massanell and other members of the Museu de Vilafranca. This is the intervention that provided most of the documented materials.

At Easter 1972 it was visited by members of the SIE – CEA who, through ignorance, christened it Cova de l'Engany (topography unpublished until now). In 1979 it was also visited by Gener Aymamí, who made a topography and a brief later article. In 1980 it was visited again, now by members of the GREV (Biblioteca-Museu Víctor Balaguer, of Vilanova i la Geltrú), who also surveyed it. On these occasions no kind of excavation was carried out, although around these times some clandestine ones were detected.

In April-May 1991 an emergency intervention was carried out by Raül Bartrolí and Genís Ribé.
