Orobe 4

Cavity located in the vicinity of the Peña de Orobe de Alsasua (Navarra). After 4 km from Alsasua, an abandoned quarry is visible on the left. To reach it, it is necessary to cross the Altzania river over a bridge and take a local road that leads to Olazagutia. The railway passes very close to the quarry. Another possible access route is by taking this local road from Olazagutia, after barely 200 metres south of the quarry, taking the track in the direction of Olazagutía; on the right there is a path towards the W that leads to the summit of the mountain. It is rather a logging track, which climbs a very steep slope in one go. Once almost 120 m of elevation gain have been overcome at the contact of the sandstones we have climbed through with the Cretaceous limestone bar, a trail starts towards the N that more or less follows the contour line and leads us to the Cueva de Orobe. If we continue the trail northwards about 100 m following the contour, we will reach a fairly large pit entrance. This is Orobe 4.
